The Rim to Rim Hike in the Grand Canyon can be accessed either by way of Fredonia, Arizona (North Rim <-- Recommended Route) or Tusayan, Arizona (South Rim) and is among the top 25 US National Parks Hikes.

This ever popular bucket list hike is not to be taken lightly, however.  With over 10,000 feet in elevation change and over 25 miles of terrain to cover, the Rim to Rim trail is attempted by less than 1% of the Grand Canyon annual visitors.  For those taking on the challenge, expect to put in a full day with challengers often starting as early as 5AM and finishing at 8PM or later.

Proper conditioning is a must before attempting the hike as is having the right hiking gear including headlamps, well broken in footwear, hiking poles and a generous amount of food and water to keep your body hydrated and functioning its best.

The hike is definitely worth it though as it rewards the challengers with some of the most amazing views in Grand Canyon National Park.  The US National Park Service recommends this challenge only be attempted from May-October and suggests hikers travel from the North Kabib Trailhead to the Bright Angel Trail for the best experience.
